Hello! I'm an Atlanta-based developer and designer studying at Georgia Tech.
Hi! My name is Vikrant (Vik) Bathala, and I am a 3rd year student at Georgia Tech working on my B.S. in Computational Media. Computational Media focuses on the intersection between Computing and Design; for example, my concentrations are in Artificial Intelligence and Interaction Design. TL;DR 1/2 Computer Science and 1/2 Design. I am most interested in Accessibility Technologies and Educational Technologies, and I plan on pursuing a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction after undergrad.
It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to do with my self. I entered into university as an International Affairs major at the University of Georgia, and then I changed my major to Management Information Systems and then continued IT Management at Georgia Tech. At some point I realized I wanted to learn more about Computer Science and Design, so I switched to Computational Media. It is an incredibly interesting field to study, and I am happy with my decisions. Although all the switching majors and transferring schools have been challenging, it has forged me into a person with a very well-rounded skillset and the ability to adapt to change quite well.
In my free time, I love to learn and practice culinary skills (cooking, baking, mixology, etc.), music production, rock climbing, spending time with friends, and I just recently started embroidery. Sometime soon, you should be able to see some of my culinary creations on my website! I also love to travel, and I am currently studying abroad in Sweden for the Spring 2022 semester (a few experiences from Iceland and London are sprinkled throughout the website). I think traveling and food are an amazing way to become a more worldly person because one takes the time to put themselves in someone else's shoes. I hope to learn as much as I can about the world to become a more empathetic developer, designer, and person.
